Dental Insurance El Paso

Delivering Affordable Kid-Friendly Dentistry & Orthodontics

At Jim Bowden, DDS, we understand how important it is for you to ensure your child’s oral health and smile remain healthy, vibrant, and on the right path. The years between birth and adulthood include a wide range of dental and facial changes, all of which our team will address and closely monitor. However, this regular treatment requires costly services, all of which can add up over time.

The good news is that we are pleased to be an in-network pediatric dentist in El Paso who works with a variety of plans. Ready to save on your child’s oral healthcare? Call our office today to schedule an appointment or ask about your coverage.

How Dental Insurance Works

Dental insurance companies usually build their plans to cover preventive and restorative treatment. This means you will save more when you bring your child in for regular dental checkups and cleanings. However, if they develop a cavity or sustain an oral injury, your insurance will help cover a portion of the cost.

Depending on your plan, preventive care may be covered at 100%, minor restorative care at 80%, and major restorative care at 50%.

Cosmetic dental treatment is unlikely to be covered, but there are exceptions if your child requires a service that also improves their oral health (i.e., a metal-free restoration).

Regarding orthodontics, not all insurance companies build coverage into their plans. This will require you to review yours to determine if you need to purchase a supplemental plan to help cover the cost of your child’s braces.

What is the Difference Between Dental and Medical Insurance?

When paying for your child’s visits, make sure you use your dental insurance to help cover the cost. Unlike medical insurance, which is commonly used after an injury or illness (i.e., hospitalizations, outpatient procedures), dental insurance rewards those who take a proactive approach to care.

With dental insurance, you can save more by making sure your child visits their dentist every six months for regular checkups and cleanings.

In-Network vs. Out-of-Network

Each dental insurance plan looks different, but most contain different coverage levels when choosing between an in-network and out-of-network dentist. Which one you choose matters, especially if you want to save more each time you bring your child or teen in for a dental visit.

In-Network

In-network dentists pre-negotiate terms and fees with dental insurance companies, identifying which services will be offered at a lower rate. This reduces your out-of-pocket expenses because of the traditional 100-80-50 model.

Dr. Bowden is pleased to be in-network with:

  • Aetna
  • Ameritas
  • Cigna
  • Delta Dental
  • DentaQuest
  • MCNA Dental
  • MetLife
  • Tricare

We also welcome all other PPO dental insurance plans!

Out-of-Network

If we are out-of-network with your dental insurance plan, do not be discouraged. Your child will still receive the same high-quality care they deserve. While you will be required to pay more out of pocket, our team will do our best to help you save and file the necessary paperwork to ensure you receive the maximum reimbursement.
